One of the many perks of staying at my parents’ house for several days over the holidays (free laundry! stocked pantry! lots of parking space!) was 24-hour access to Kiva and Bodie. So, of course I followed them around with a camera. Here are a few trends I noticed.
Field Observation #1: Kiva likes to hide beneath things.
Field Observation #2: Bodie is a ham who loves posing for pictures and also photo-bombing them.
Field Observation #3: They both loved their Christmas gifts.
Field Observation #4: They like to sleep in the most comfortable spots in the house.
Field Observation #5: Kiva doesn’t like when she’s not in on the joke, but we all got a kick out of the way her giant ears perk up when we say her name.

So cute! I spent a lot of time with the dogs and have about 50 pictures of Kostas sleeping!
Also got to hang out with my parents 2 Goldens – they are fun pups who shed even more than Labs!
Haha, Nicole, I can totally relate. I LOVE to take pictures of them sleeping. It’s because all dogs look like such little angels when they’re asleep. I love goldens too! Such beautiful, fun dogs
They are adorable!
Thank you for indulging me, Shari! I know I’m obsessed.
You look so chic in your big scarf and bun
These are such cute pictures – I love your dogs!
Aw, thank you, Di! I just got that infinity scarf off Etsy for Christmas. I’ve been wearing it nonstop. And those pooches are a hoot. I know I’m obsessed…but they make me laugh everyday!
I love everything about this! So adorable and a great way to start the new year
Thanks, Laurie! Happy New Year to you too!
So cute! I love spending time with my puppy relatives when I go home, also.
One of the best parts, certainly. Puppy relatives = a new phrase added to my vocab. Thanks, Kacy!
Awesome video, Kiva is so sweet! They are both too cute!
Thanks, Emily! I can never get over her humanlike emotions. She seems genuinely embarrassed that we’re all giggling and looking at her. Too funny! I know you can relate with Boomer and Dottie
Yeah, I can relate!
They are so adorable!! And yes, I totally agree with the laundry and stocked pantry as huge perks of being at home!
Thanks, Rebecca
Ahhh, home. The land of free perks, long hugs, and dogs!
This video of Kiva needs to go viral. Go magic monkeys, spread it through the internet!
Hahaha imagine Kiva’s embarrassment if she knew MORE people were watching this!
Aww! They are too cute! Pets make the best photo-bombers, too
Thanks, Kim! They definitely do! Bodie seems to have some innate knack for it. He waits until the photog nearly takes the shot to nibble on your chin or leap off your lap.
Kiva looks so embarrassed! Aw, so cute though. I also like to pick on my dogs!
Hahaha, what else do you get dogs for if you can’t pick on ‘em?
It cracks me up how she seems to have humanlike emotions. I know I’m anthropomorphizing, but I can’t help it.
how can you not?!
That video is priceless – Kiva gets some serious lift in those ears.
You are so right, Will—serious lift is the best way to describe it. She was doing it for 15 seconds before I whipped out the camera, and then she caught on that we were poking fun. Haaa.
Ahhh!!! SO adorable!!!
Haha, thanks, Liz!
Awww….you know I love this girl!! My girls are the world to me. I love all the pics and the video….so cute!! I totally love my fellow doggy lovers!! xoxo
I’m just glad to have readers like you, Suzie, who don’t think I’m crazy for posting so many pics!
Kiva’s like “stop messing with me!” Sooo cute! I really LOL’ed at the pics of the dogs “loving” their gifts. Their expressions are the epitome of disinterest…perhaps even hatred in the bow pic. haha! I could live on doggy posts, thank you for this!
HAHA they really do look bored to tears with their toys…and they were NOT fans of the bow.
Kiva gets so embarrassed and humanlike; it cracks me up every time!
Love! That’s all I can say. These little guys just melt my heart. Oh! When we were in Houston last week, we saw an Aussie that looks just like Bodie. John and I contemplated a dog-napping for a few minutes!
They melt mine, too, Natalie! Do you bychance have an Instagram account? One of my favorite things to do is search “#australianshepherd” on Instagram because you can see literally thousands of user-uploaded pics of Aussies. You can search any dog breed. (Now I’m officially a dog nut).
I would totally do that! I don’t have an Instagram account. I’m still one of the few people left on the planet that doesn’t have a smart phone. However, I’m getting on e soon and Instagram is the first thing I plan on getting!
Can’t wait to follow along
Oh, and don’t worry, I contemplate dog-napping every single time I see an Aussie! I actually got offered a dog-sitting gig in a dog-friendly bar once because I was showering so much attention on a big black tri Aussie — actually looked a bit like Max now that I think of it!
haha..I laughing so hard at Kiva’s video. She is so cute!! Love all the pics too of course. They are like my children and King’s cousins
I know, Rach! Kiva is such a little nerd but we love her all the same. I didn’t get very many photos of King this break
I think I need to do another post about him soon!
Hahaha, Kiva! She’s like “I don’t get it, guys. What’s going on?” Looks like they were very happy to have everyone home for the holidays
My sweet, sweet baby Kiva. She hates to be the butt of the joke! They do love having everyone home—because it means more treats and more attention, those little hogs.
oh goodness can I have your dog? that is one cute munchkin
Hahaha thanks, Alex!
Nothing is cuter than a dog with something on its head. Period.
Amen, sister friend.
